Thanksgiving for Paso Robles needs volunteers, donations
–For the past 34 years, Thanksgiving for Paso Robles has been providing a free sit-down dinner for anyone in the community on Thanksgiving Day.
Now in its 35th year, there is an urgent need for volunteer assistance with the planning and implementation committee. Among other needs, an experienced chef or kitchen supervisor is needed to oversee the many volunteers who set up the kitchen at Centennial Park and prepare the meals.
The Thanksgiving for Paso Robles planning committee meets twice a month In October and weekly in November. Meetings are held on Thursdays at 5:30 p.m. and last about an hour.
The dinner takes place in the banquet room at Centennial Park on Thanksgiving Day. Over 1,000 meals are served each year. It takes about 250 people working nearly 1200 man-hours to put on Thanksgiving for Paso Robles each year. All meals are prepared from scratch. Volunteers are also invited to enjoy a Thanksgiving Dinner of Turkey and Ham with all of the side dishes beginning at 3 p.m. when the community dinners have ended.
