Over a thousand people attended the first-ever Golden Oak Honey Festival Saturday at the downtown city park in Paso Robles. The honey festival is a re-imagining of the 18-year-old arts and crafts show known as the Golden Oak Festival.
Free honey ice cream samples were offered to attendees along with a honey wine, referred to as mead wine, and beer tasting garden for a fee.
Matthew’s Honey sold honey produced in the Lindsay area of the San Joaquin Valley and in San Luis Obispo. Matthew Cary brought a bee hive enclosed in glass for interested people to view honey bees up close.
Wearing a bumble bee costume, Jenni Cisco welcomed visitors and told them about nine local restaurants featuring special dishes. Artisan served a Wildflower Honey Gelato. Yanagi Sushi offered Honey Chicken. F. McLintock’s Saloon served Barenjager- a honey bourbon shot.
The event was sponsored by the Paso Robles Main Street Association.
