Threats to Lewis Middle School investigated

– The Paso Robles Police Department has completed an investigation into possible threats directed toward Lewis Middle School by a student. The PRPD, along with school district officials, have investigated this incident and do not believe the student poses a current threat to Lewis Middle School students or staff.

PRPD investigators say they have made personal contact with the student and his parents. The student told investigators he was frustrated after having difficulty in class Thursday and made a horrible decision when he said he, “wanted the place shot up.” Based upon their investigation, detectives determined the student’s comments did not rise to a criminal level.

The PRPD has referred this matter to school district officials to take appropriate administrative action. Detectives will not seek a criminal complaint in this matter.

The PRPD would like to thank the public for reporting this matter immediately. They would like to remind everyone, “If you see something (or, as in this case “hear” something), say something.”
