–Three first-time Cal Poly students from the ‘805’ area code were recently awarded $1000 each from the Cal Poly-Kennedy Club Fitness ‘805’ Local Scholarship Fund. Connor Hickey, Brian Kragh and Julia Johnson were inaugural recipients of the scholarship fund, created by Kevin Kennedy, Cal Poly Alum.

“My Senior Project was a feasibility study related to opening multiple health club locations in San Luis Obispo County,” said Kennedy. “We recently celebrated thirty-seven years in SLO County with four club locations, Paso Robles, Atascadero, San Luis Obispo and Arroyo Grande. I owe our success to the education and guidance I received from my years at Cal Poly.” Kennedy also said he wishes to thank his Kennedy Club Fitness members who supported the scholarship as well as media partners, KSBY, Tribune, ValPak, New Times and AGM Radio who assisted in promoting the scholarship and enlisting applicants over the past year.
