Three local businesses sell tobacco to minor decoy 


–On Thursday, Nov. 16, 2017, the Grover Beach Police Department, in conjunction with the San Luis Obispo County Public Health Department’s Tobacco Control Program, conducted a tobacco compliance operation at 18 different retail locations in the City of Grover Beach.

The compliance operation consisted of having an underage decoy enter a retail location and attempt to purchase a tobacco product. Of the 18 locations visited, three of them sold tobacco products to the underage decoy. The businesses that sold tobacco to the decoy are as follows:

Flyers Gas Station – 684 W. Grand Ave., Grover Beach
Guadalajara Market – 1400 W. Grand Ave., Grover Beach
Express Smoke Shop – 1051 S. 13th Street, Grover Beach

Per California Penal Code 308(a) it is a misdemeanor to sell tobacco products to a person under the age of 21.
