Thunderstorms bring over an inch of rain to North County this week

–Thunderstorms and steady rain from Tuesday night to Wednesday afternoon dropped over an inch of precipitation to the North County.

On Dec. 4 Paso Robles measured 1.14-inches of rain. This morning, Paso Robles measured 0.46-inches of rain over the past 24-hours. The new season total has reached 4.2-inches. To view rainfall totals, click here. 

PG & E meteorologist John Lindsay said the heaviest rainfall occurred between 1 – 4 a.m. Wednesday morning. At 4:30 Wednesday morning in Paso Robles, however, a deluge sent fast-moving run-off flowing across Riverside Road at 21st.

There was minor flooding reported on Union Road near Barney Schwartz Park and along Pine Street near the Paso Robles Train Station.

Turtle Creek flowed again through Sierra Bonita Village. Puddles of standing water formed along Linne Road.

In Monterey County, a levee broke near Chualar Union School around 3 p.m. Wednesday afternoon. Three feet of water flooded a section of Highway 101 about ten miles south of Salinas near Esperanza and Chualar Roads. Caltrans had to pump the water out of the roadway before it could be reopened.

A flood advisory was in effect until 5:45 pm Wednesday in northeastern Monterey County including Soledad and Gonzalez.
