Training burn scheduled in San Miguel
Exercise will be conducted on wood framed building at 1599 Mission St.
–The San Miguel Fire Department, in cooperation with the property owner will be conducting a series of training burns on June 3-5.
The live training exercise will be conducted on a wood framed building located at 1599 Mission Street, San Miguel.
This burn is being conducted because this building has been deemed unfit for habitation and beyond rehabilitation. Training burns provide vital training for fire and emergency personnel.
People in the San Miguel area may see smoke from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on the days of the burn. In the unlikely event you smell smoke, county officials urge you to take common sense precautions to reduce any harmful health effects such as avoiding strenuous outdoor activity and/or remaining indoors as much as possible. These precautions are especially important to the elderly, children and other people with respiratory and heart conditions.
The training burn was planned and coordinated with the San Luis Obispo County Air Pollution Control District and the California Air Resources Board in order to minimize the smoke impact on surrounding communities.
