Two arrested after Paso Robles Police find meth, cocaine in traffic stop

K9, ‘Griff,’ conducted a sniff and alerted to the presence of narcotics
– Paso Robles Police officers conducted a traffic stop on a 2024 GMC truck in the 2400 block of Golden Hill Road on July 18 at approximately 9:56 p.m. The vehicle, which had two occupants, was stopped for a moving violation.
During the stop, officers observed signs of possible criminal activity. A narcotic detection K9, “Griff,” conducted a sniff of the vehicle and alerted to the presence of narcotics. Officers searched the vehicle and located approximately 90 pounds of suspected methamphetamine and 4 pounds of suspected cocaine. The estimated street value of the narcotics is approximately $240,000.
The driver, identified as Jose Acosta, 42, of Salinas, was arrested and faces multiple felony charges, including possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute, transportation of a controlled substance, and conspiracy.
The passenger, identified as Veronica Romero, 45, also of Salinas, was arrested and faces the same felony charges. In addition, Romero had outstanding arrest warrants out of Monterey County.
