Two arrested at Motel 6 for counterfeit currency production

–On Thursday morning shortly after 6 am, a San Luis Obispo Police Officer was conducting a patrol check through the parking lot at 1433 Calle Joaquin, Motel 6 North. The officer saw two people sleeping in a parked car. Those individuals were identified as Michael Crocker and Melissa Fernandes both of Fresno. After contacting Crocker and Fernandes, officers learned Crocker is on felony probation out of Fresno County. A probation search was conducted and officers located evidence of methamphetamine and heroin sales.

Additionally, officers located evidence of counterfeit currency production. More than two thousand dollars of counterfeit US currency was located and additional unfinished counterfeit bills were located in various stages of production. Also recovered was a printer and computer that investigators believe were being used to print the counterfeit bills.

Crocker was booked at San Luis Obispo County jail for possession of a controlled substance for sales, possession of a controlled substance for sales and forgery.

Fernandes was booked at San Luis Obispo County Jail for forgery.
