—Republican Assemblyman Katcho Achadjian (R-Arroyo Grande), a candidate for US Congress, has received endorsements from former California governors George Deukmejian and Pete Wilson.

Former Governor Pete Wilson said, “Katcho has lived the American Dream. He has given back to his community and state and has shown leadership and true conservative principles, first as a County Supervisor, and then as an Assembly Member. Now we need Katcho’s leadership in Congress!”

Governor Pete Wilson served from 1991 to 1999 and helped build a $16 billion dollar budget surplus when he left office. Wilson also championed Proposition 140, which established term limits in California.

George Deukmejian served as Governor of California from 1983 to 1991, before Governor Pete Wilson. Under his leadership the general fund grew by 98-percent without any increase in general tax rates. Deukmejian entered office with a $1.5 billion budget deficit and made many responsible cuts to the budget to stabilize it.

“I am pleased to have received the endorsement from former Governors Wilson and Deukmejian,” said Achadjian. “Their fiscal responsibility and excellent leadership put California back on track during a time of need and enabled many of us to come to this great state.”

Achadjian has served as California State Assembly Member since 2010. Previously, he served as San Luis Obispo County Supervisor for 12 years.

Achadjian is running for the 24th Congressional District which encompasses Santa Barbara County, San Luis Obispo County, and part of Ventura County. Also running for the seat: Republican Justin Fareed, Democrat Santa Barbara Mayor Helene Schneider, Democrat Salud Carbajal, and Democrat William Ostrander.
