–On Thursday at about 7:40 p.m., Grover Beach Police Officers and the Five Cities Fire Authority were dispatched to a residence in the 100 block of Newport Ave for a welfare check on an unconscious adult woman. A police officer was first to arrive and determined the woman and an adult male located in the same room of the residence were obviously deceased. The scene was secured and a death investigation was started. GBPD Detectives were joined in this investigation by the San Luis Obispo County Sheriff Detectives and Coroner Investigators.

Illegal narcotics and drug paraphernalia were present at the scene and its relation to the deaths is being investigated. The names of the decedents will not be released pending notification of family members. Autopsies for both decedents will be conducted to help determine the cause of death.
