Upcoming ‘Fantaisie Française’ concert showcases French composers at Cass Winery

Season ticket package available for 2023-34 season

– Symphony of the Vines is gearing up for its upcoming concert, “Fantaisie Française.” on Nov. 5 at Cass Winery in Paso Robles. The event will showcase a lineup of musicians performing compositions by renowned French composers, including Poulenc’s Violin Sonata, Franck’s Cello Sonata, and Chausson’s Piano Trio. Pianist Suri Kim, a young musician with an impressive track record, will also be featured.

Kim, the evening’s Student Spotlight, initiated her musical journey at the age of five under the guidance of Lynne Garrett. Her notable achievements include top-place honors at the Paderewski Festival Youth Competition in the Junior Division in 2021, along with recent performances at Lincoln Center.

Established in 2010, Symphony of the Vines is an independent professional association providing orchestral concerts in northern San Luis Obispo County. The orchestra actively offers learning, mentoring, and performance opportunities to young student musicians in the area through its Student Spotlight program. Additionally, SOV conducts interactive performances at public schools to acquaint students with live classical music.

Symphony of the Vines, under the direction of music director Greg Magie, serves as a platform for live Classical music performances in the North County of San Luis Obispo. Founded in 2010, the orchestra has continued to thrive, featuring the finest local musicians and guest artists in San Luis Obispo County and surrounding communities, with a repertoire spanning from the 1600s to world premieres of newly composed music.
