Upcoming winery event to raise funds for Alzheimer’s research

    – The Alzheimer’s Association will host a fundraiser and research presentation titled “Wise Women & Wine” on April 19 from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. at J Dusi Winery, 1401 46 West, in Paso Robles.

The event will feature wines from J Dusi, Linne Calodo, Dracaena Wines, Austin Hope, Epoch, Cypher, and Rava, along with food from Brick & Mortar Catering Company. Organizers said the fundraiser will include wine, food, a silent auction, and a research presentation.

Dr. Ozama Ismail, Director of Scientific Programs at the Alzheimer’s Association, will present information on research related to Alzheimer’s disease.

Organizers said the event will focus on honoring women, sharing stories, and raising funds for families and friends affected by Alzheimer’s disease. The event will also highlight female winemakers and women-owned businesses while providing information on research and support related to Alzheimer’s and dementia.

According to organizers, women are disproportionately affected by Alzheimer’s disease, with nearly two-thirds of Americans living with the condition being women.

Amber Pepito, a recent graduate of California Polytechnic State University, is leading the event with support from the Alzheimer’s Association. Organizers said her mother died from Lewy Body dementia two years ago at age 62.

To attend Wise Women & Wine, make a $50 donation and note “ticket” with your contribution. If you are unable to attend, organizers also appreciate any contribution or donation made in support.

Pepito shared the following statement about the event:

    “Together, we raise a glass:
    To wisdom.
    To strength.
To the women who shape us.
And to a future without Alzheimer’s.”
