Valentine’s Day ‘Bachelor Pet’ adoption event returns to local humane society

Shelter currently has 55 adult pets available for adoption

Woods Humane Society will host its annual Bachelor Pet adoption event from Feb. 11 through Feb. 15, offering reduced adoption fees for adult dogs and cats.

During the event, adoption fees for adult dogs and cats will be reduced to $14, plus license fees for adult dogs. The promotion lowers adoption fees from the shelter’s typical range of $65 for senior cats to $150 for adult dogs.

The Bachelor Pet event is inspired by reality dating shows and is designed to highlight adult dogs and cats currently available for adoption at the shelter.

Emily L’Heureux, chief executive officer of Woods Humane Society, said, “We have so many dogs and cats who are eager to bring joy, companionship, and unconditional love to a special person this Valentine’s Day season and beyond. We hope this fun take on reality TV inspires the public to open their hearts to animals in need in the shelter, and that the reduced fees remove barriers to adopting.”

The shelter currently has 55 adult pets available for adoption, ranging in age from 5 months to 10 years. Available animals include a variety of breeds, ranging from Alaskan Malamute to Pekingese.

All adoptable animals have been spayed or neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, licensed, and treated for parasites. Adoptions also include 30 days of voluntary pet insurance and a free wellness exam at a local veterinary clinic.

Woods Humane Society operates adoption locations at 875 Oklahoma Ave. in San Luis Obispo and at 2300 Ramona Road in Atascadero. The shelter is open to the public daily from noon to 5 p.m., with adoption hours from noon to 4 p.m.
