Vegetation control work to begin on Highway 58 next week
Control work to also be conducted on Highway 229, Highway 41
– Caltrans will begin vegetation control work on State Route 58 between Pozo Road and Bitterwater Road on Monday, June 17. This road work will result in one-way traffic control for travelers Monday through Friday between 7 a.m. and 4 p.m. This project is expected to be complete in mid-July.
Caltrans will also perform vegetation control work on Highway 229 and Highway 41. Full dates and times of this work will be announced when details are certain.
The work to be completed is in support of California’s Wildfire and Forest Resilience Action Plan to manage vegetation and reduce wildfire risk along the state highway system. The objective of this work is to disrupt fuel continuity by removing dead/dying brush and ladder fuels, according to Cal Trans.
The contractor for this $850,000 fuel reduction plan is C.T.L. Forest Management, Inc. of Cameron Park, Calif.
Travelers are encouraged to be aware of flaggers and all highway workers within these work zones.
