Several other vehicles have reportedly driven into the median since its completion

–Around 10 a.m. Thursday morning, a driver lost control of his Ford Mustang near 21st and Park. The car’s wheels jumped and straddled the curb. The vehicle became stuck in the new sunken median.

A seasoned tow truck driver carefully removed the vehicle from the median. Beginning around 10, eastbound 21st Street was closed for an hour.

The driver reportedly left the car wash and his tire hit the curb. The wheels jumped over the curb into the median.

An officer supervising the extrication said it’s not the first time a vehicle has ended up in the median. Since the lanes on 21st were reconfigured to accommodate rainwater runoff, several vehicles have driven into the sunken median.

The driver was not injured. His vehicle did not suffer any major damage.
