Vitalant blood center offers free A1C testing to September blood donors
Donors of all blood types needed, especially type O
– National Blood Donation Week will take place Sept. 1-7, and Vitalant is urging eligible donors to give blood to help patients in both planned medical treatments and emergencies.
All blood types are needed, especially type O. In emergencies, doctors use O-negative when there is no time to determine a patient’s blood type, and O-positive is the next best option.
As a thank you, Vitalant is offering donors in September a free hemoglobin A1C test, which provides an indicator of diabetes risk. Donors can access their confidential A1C level and other wellness results within a week of donating through their online account.
Appointments can be made at vitalant.org, through the Vitalant blood donor app, or by calling (877) 258-4825.
