Volunteers serve more than 1000 dinners at ‘Thanksgiving for Paso Robles’

Volunteers serving meals to-go at Thursday’s dinner.

–Volunteers served more than 1,000 dinners Thursday’s “Thanksgiving for Paso Robles” at Centennial Park.

Elizabeth Schumann coordinated volunteers who delivered more than 100 dinners to those who could not travel to the park. About 1,000 people convened for dinner at Centennial Park, 600 Nickerson Drive in Paso Robles.
More than 60 people volunteered to cook, serve dinners, deliver dinners to shut-ins and clean-up after the event.

Chef Stein and other volunteers worked for three days preparing turkeys, ham and other Thanksgiving faire at the Culinary Arts Academy. Dozens of other volunteers served dinners to homeless, hungry, or lonely people who received a free, delicious dinner of turkey, dressing, salad, greens, mashed potatoes, and pumpkin pie.

Although the city donates use of Centennial Park, all the food is donated and the entire Thanksgiving dinner is prepared, served and delivered by volunteers.

Anyone may volunteer to help at the annual event in Paso Robles.
