Volunteers serve over 1000 free Thanksgiving meals
–Volunteers served just over 1,050 free Thankgiving Dinners at Centennial Park Thursday. Another 130 dinners were delivered to those who were unable to travel to the Centennial Dining Room.
For several days prior to the event, volunteers helped prepare turkeys, dressing, cranberries and mashed potatoes. They baked pumpkin pies and planned the dinner.
Elizabeth Schumann, who coordinated the deliveries, says one volunteer lost his home and his animals in the Ventura fire. She says he was glad to help with the Paso Robles event.
Men from the Second Baptist Church served as hosts.
Planning for next year’s event begins in August.
