Volunteers wanted for building board of appeals 

Paso Robles building board of appeals

–The Paso Robles City Council, at their most recent meeting, approved the formation of a Building Board of Appeals.

The building board of appeals will “hear and decide appeals of orders, decisions or determinations made by city building officials related to the application and interpretation of the California Building Code. The code sets minimum qualifications for building board of appeals members to be, “qualified by experience and training to pass on matters pertaining to building construction and are not employees of the jurisdiction.”

The City of Paso Robles is now accepting applications for appointment to the board. Appointments will be made for two and four year terms.

Minimum qualifications for the building board of appeals:

  • Registered design professional with architectural experience or a builder or superintendent of building construction with at least ten years’ experience, five of which shall have been in responsible charge of work.
  • Registered design professional with structural engineering experience.
  • Registered design professional with mechanical and plumbing engineering experience or a mechanical contractor with at least ten years’ experience, five of which shall have been in responsible charge of work.
  • Registered design professional with electrical engineering experience or an electrical contractor with at least ten years’ experience, five of which shall have been in responsible charge of work.
  • Registered design professional with fire protection engineering experience or a fire protection contractor with at least ten years’ experience, five of which shall have been in responsible charge of work.
  • Certified Building Officials or building inspector with at least ten years’ experience

Applicants are advised that all committee members may be required to file a statement of economic interests, including financial disclosure statements.

Applications may be obtained at city hall, 1000 Spring Street or downloaded from the City web site at: www.prcity.com/government/advisorybodies/pdf/AdvisoryApplication.pdf or type “advisory application” in the site search box on the city website.

The deadline for submitting applications is 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 29, 2015 at Paso Robles City Hall, 1000 Spring Street, Paso Robles, CA 93446.
