Vote for People’s Choice award at Best Chef Competition Feb. 25
The first annual Best Chef Competition will be held from 1-3 p.m. on Feb. 25 as part of the Inspired Home & Gourmet Expo taking place at the Paso Robles Event Center.
New event happens during Inspired Home & Gourmet Expo at Paso Robles Event Center
–As part of the popular Inspired Home & Gourmet Expo taking place at the Paso Robles Event Center, located at 2198 Riverside, on Saturday, Feb. 25, the first annual Best Chef Competition will be held from 1-3 p.m. The Expo, featuring over 100 project experts, a sip and savor wine tasting benefiting the Wellness Kitchen, a wine and gourmet food garden, and various demonstrations from local businesses, will be held Feb. 25 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Feb. 26 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The contest includes chefs competing in a “Chopped” style battle using a CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) box of fresh harvest, local produce from Talley Farms. Along with the Talley Farms box of produce and fruits, the chefs may add any protein they desire.
Nominated chefs for the event are: Chris Beckett of Fish Gaucho; Nicola Allegretta of Mistura and Mama’s Meatballs; Kristina Duffy of Inn At Morro Bay; Casey Walcot of Sea Venture, and Sarah Paddock of Chipwrecked.
“We’re looking forward to experiencing the unique tastes these chefs will create with the fresh and local fruits and vegetables from our Talley Farms Fresh Harvest boxes,” said Andrea S Chavez, manager of Fresh Harvest Talley Farms.
A panel of professional judges will oversee the blind arbitrating while attendees of the Inspired Home Expo are encouraged to taste the offerings and cast their vote for the People’s Choice award. Chefs will be judged on use of ingredients, presentation, taste and originality. Judges include: Liz Dodder Hansen, Jacob Town, Rachel Hommel, and Kendra Aronson. The Judge’s Choice and People’s Choice winners will be announced Saturday at 3:30 p.m.
After the show, presented by Taste Buds and Simply Clear Marketing & Media, each chef will receive a full-page layout with the recipe and pictures in the Inspired Health Magazine.
“Chefs Casey, Sarah, and Nicola were all featured in season one of Taste Buds, and Kristina and Chris are planned for season two,” said Teri Bayus, host and producer of Taste Buds. “Each chef has their own unique strengths and it will be thrilling to see who can take home the prize.”
