Water main ruptured on North end of Vine Street
Water gushing from the ruptured water main.
–Construction workers improving the roadway on the north end of Vine Street ruptured a water main around 9 a.m. Wednesday morning. Tens of thousands of gallons of water gushed into the road and ran down 32nd and 34th Streets to Spring Street. The runoff created large pools of standing water on Spring and Oak Streets.
It took city public works nearly an hour to shut-off the water.
The flow carried mud and silt which had to be cleared Wednesday afternoon.
Paso Robles Public Works Department has not estimated the quantity of water lost in the accident,
but a spokesperson said it was substantial.
Construction crews are currently working to extend pavement on Vine Street north of 32nd Street.
