– Wine Country Theatre will stage a production of Charlotte’s Web at Harris Stage Lines from Oct. 18-27. Directed by Veronica Surber, this production marks her directorial debut. “When we needed a director, I jumped at the chance to get my feet wet with this show. I knew I could find the right storytellers, and I succeeded. The cast is ready to get started, and that makes me so happy!” Surber said.
The story follows Wilbur, played by Paso Robles High School freshman Amelia Baker, as the young pig tries to escape his fate at the dinner table. Wilbur finds help from an unexpected friend, Charlotte, a barn spider who uses her writing skills to save him. Lindsey Villanueva-Taylor, who plays Charlotte, said, “I am so excited to share Charlotte’s warmth and heart. She is a beautiful example of friendship and unconditional love.”
Jacob Shearer, board producer, and cast member, expressed his excitement for the show: “Charlotte’s Web affirmed my love for animals and storytelling as a child, and now that I am a part of a team bringing it to life for audiences of children and adults, it makes this process so much more rewarding.”
The production will take place on the outdoor stage at Harris Stage Lines, located at 5995 North River Road, Paso Robles. Audiences will experience the bond between Wilbur and Charlotte as they navigate life on the farm, highlighting themes of loyalty, sacrifice, and kindness.
Tickets for general admission are $30, and student tickets with ID are $20. Hot food, snacks, and beverages, including wine and beer, will be available for purchase at the event. Performances begin at 7 p.m. Tickets can be purchased at winecountrytheatre.org.
