Wine Country Theatre presents ‘Tiny Beautiful Things’ in Paso Robles

Play based on book by Cheryl Strayed

    – Wine Country Theatre will present the play “Tiny Beautiful Things,” opening April 4 at Plymouth Congregational Church in Paso Robles. The production is based on the best-selling book by Cheryl Strayed and adapted for the stage by Nia Vardalos. Cynthia Anthony directs the show.

The play follows the relationship between an anonymous advice columnist named Sugar and the readers who seek her guidance. Sugar, a struggling writer, takes over the column and discovers that offering the best advice often means sharing her own experiences. The production features Kristen Saunders as Sugar, with Edgar De La Cruz, Kata Linfield, and Tracy Mayfield portraying more than 25 different letter writers.

“Some stories don’t need big spectacle—just truth, heart, and human connection. That’s exactly what ‘Tiny Beautiful Things’ delivers,” Anthony said.

The play is based on real letters sent to Sugar and her responses. Over the years, thousands of people turned to the columnist for wisdom, compassion, and hope. Rather than providing direct answers, she draws on her own past to offer perspective.

The production is presented on the intimate stage at Plymouth Congregational Church, with some proceeds benefiting the church’s community outreach programs and Wine Country Theatre, a nonprofit community theater.

Performances will be held on Fridays and Saturdays at 7:30 p.m. and Sundays at 2 p.m. through April 13. Seating is at tables, and audiences may purchase wine and snacks during the show. General admission tickets are $25 and can be purchased at My805tix.com or via the Wine Country Theatre website.

Plymouth Congregational Church is located at the corner of 13th and Oak streets in downtown Paso Robles. The play is intended for mature audiences and contains strong language and adult content. For more information, call (805) 610-0786.
