Winemaker Gary Eberle to be roasted at fundraiser

–On Saturday, Oct. 22, at 4 p.m., the “Fryers Club of Paso Robles” will host its second annual Celebrity Roast featuring winemaker Gary Eberle of Eberle Winery. Tickets are $75 per person and all proceeds go to Must! Charities. The roast will be held at at Terra Mia on Arbor Road in Paso Robles.

Eberle has been in the Paso Robles wine business for 43 years. He was recently honored with the Winery Lifetime Achievement Award by the state of California. Here are a few accomplishments attributed to Eberle:

  • Planted the first syrah grapes in the US
  • Bottle the first cabernet sauvignon with a Paso Robles Appellation designate
  • Helped create the Paso Robles American Viticultural Area designation
  • Helped create the Paso Robles Wine Country Alliance and served on the board for 18 years
  • Served on the board of the Wine Institute for more than two decades

 

The evening meals will be created by Jeffrey’s Catering, Chef William Bloxsom-Carter, Chef Jeffrey Scott, Chef Charlie, SLO’s Finest Catering and The Hatch. Paso Robles wines and Barrelhouse beer will be served. Entertainment will be provided by Ricky Montijo and the Mojitos. A live auction will be held featuring library wines.
