Winery’s anniversary event features Latino art, music

– Winemaker Nancy Gonzalez Ulloa is celebrating the first anniversary of her tasting room at Ulloa Cellars and is inviting the community to join the festivities. The celebration will occur on Saturday, July 20, from 5-8 p.m. at 2915 Union Road in Paso Robles. Attendees will have access to Latino art, food, and music, including a dance party featuring all vinyl DJ sets by Cristal Chains and Hija del Volcán of San Jose.
“I’m so excited to reach this milestone,” said Ulloa. “Building a business in the wine industry is so rewarding and I’m excited to share this special day with supporters.”
After graduating from San Jose State with a degree in sociology, Ulloa worked in non-profits and fine dining, where she fell in love with wine. This newfound passion for wine led her to move to Paso Robles in 2017 to pursue a career in the wine industry. She learned winemaking without formal education, following the teachings of her mentors, including Tyler Russell from Paco Winery and Bastien Leduc from Seven Oxen Estate Winery. Her work led to producing and releasing her first wine, a Grüner Veltliner called “Baby Grüner,” in 2019.
Ulloa is one of the first Latina winemakers in San Luis Obispo County. Customers can experience wine tastings, online classes, and learn about pairing suggestions with Mexican food.
Ulloa’s approach to winemaking includes using crystals in her winemaking and pairings, harnessing their unique energy represented in the goddesses on the wine bottles. The one-year anniversary celebration ticket price is $11.11.
“The number 11 is a symbol of a bridge connecting the spiritual and physical realms,” said Ulloa. “People with 11 in their numerology charts are believed to have strong intuition, heightened sensitivity, and a deep connection to the universe—something I believe each person who encounters my wine can have in their lives.”
