Winners of Central Coast Vinegar Competition unveiled
Final vinegar results and awards are in; vinegars from around the country and throughout Central Coast are among winners
The Central Coast Vinegar Competition (CCVC) is announced today the award-winning vinegars from its fourth annual blind-tasting event, held June 21 at the California Mid-State Fair.
Best in Show went to Kimberley Wine Vinegar’s Balsamic Vinegar (Acampo, CA). The honor came after judges awarded it a Gold Medal for the Balsamic Class.
Other Gold Medal Recipients include:
- Chaparral Garden’s Balsamic (Atascadero, CA)
- Kimberley Wine Vinegar’s Grape Sherry Wine Vinegar (Acampo, CA)
All Silver Medal Recipients include:
- Aris Vinegar’s Tangerine flavored vinegar (Paso Robles, CA)
- Kimberley Wine Vinegar’s Balsamic Vinegar (Acampo, CA)
- Locally Good’s Apple Cider Vinegar (Burnsville, NC)
- Straw Ridge Natural’s Special Reserve Fruit Vinegar (Paso Robles, CA)
- Straw Ridge Natural’s Special Reserve Fruit Vinegar Glaze (Paso Robles, CA)

“I think we saw the best entries to date, it’s exciting to see the breadth and creativity of the vinegars improve every year,” said returning Chief Judge, Tim McDonald, president of Wine Spoken Here.
The judging took place at Estrella Hall at the California Mid-State Fair. The four judges this year included Chief Judge Tim McDonald; Michael Cervin an accomplished Spirits and Wine Writer; manager of the Culinary Institute of America, Traci Dutton; and Jim Blumling, group vice president of wine, beer & spirits at Albertsons/Safeway.
“Some amazing vinegar is being judged here,” said Mid-State Fair CEO Michael Bradley. “The CCVC really creates a great venue for these vinegars to be tasted and judged.”
About The Central Coast Vinegar Competition
The Central Coast Vinegar Competition (CCVC) provides a venue for vinegars to be professionally judged with the goal to educate consumers regarding quantity and styles of vinegar produced in the USA. In its fourth year, the CCVC is a collaboration of six California fairs: California Mid-State Fair (July 19-30); Contra Costa County Fair; Cow Palace/Grand National Livestock Exposition, Horse Show and Rodeo; Monterey County Fair; San Benito County Fair; and Santa Maria Fairpark.
