Women’s March SLO donates $5,000 to Anna’s Home
–The Women’s March San Luis Obispo will donate $5,000 to Anna’s Home, a supportive housing program run by Restorative Partners, on Thursday, International Women’s Day. The donation will occur as part of the Nipomo Progressive Women’s Forum. International Women’s Day was chosen for the date of this year’s donation due to the mission of Women’s March SLO, the significance of this day, and the theme of this year’s IWD #PressforProgress.
The public is invited to purchase tickets for a breakfast and panel discussion at Trilogy at Monarch Dunes on March 8 from 8:30-11am in the Avila Room, 1645 Trilogy Parkway, Nipomo.
According to the Nipomo Progressive Women’s Forum the panel will address the 2018 International Women’s Day theme #PressForProgress. Speakers will include: Deanna Cantrell: San Luis Obispo Chief of Police; Erica Reyes: District Representative for US House Rep. Salud Carbajal; Courtney Haile: Founder, RACE Matters SLO; Dr. Stephen Lloyd-Moffett: Cal Poly Professor and Religious Studies Minor Advisor; and Betsey Nash: Nash HR Services, First President of SLO Women’s Network.
Women’s March San Luis Obispo Lead Dawn Addis says of the event, “We are elated to be invited back to the Nipomo Progressive Women’s Forum to present the donation that arose from a successful fundraising campaign for Hear Our Vote: Voices of Resistance Rally. The NPWF is a new group but one that has proven to be a strong and important ally for women in San Luis Obispo County. It’s an honor to be able to provide a donation to Anna’s Home, which serves women in our county who are pressing for progress in their own lives as they create a more positive and just future for their own selves and children.”
