Youth sports events could soon allow increased attendance

Legislators ask governor to allow youth sports to resume

School district discusses potential changes to youth sports attendance

–The Paso Robles Joint Unified School District was informed this week that the state health department has once again changed its guidance regarding youth sports attendance. The news was discussed at last night’s school board meeting, although more specific information will be released this week as to what the guidelines mean for youth sports in Paso Robles.

“For football at War Memorial to allow participants including players, cheer, band, dance, coaches, staff, and observers to a max of twenty percent of stadium capacity outdoors, we figured to be safe to estimate 200 staff and participants,” said Paso Robles Joint Unified School District Superintendent Curt Dubost in an email to Paso Robles Daily News.

“Stadium capacity is about 4000 so twenty percent would be 800. With 200 participants that would leave room for 600 observers for a total attendance of 800 so we are permitting three parents and friends per participant to attend,” he said. “All but players are to wear masks and sit apart if not with your own family.”

Further details are expected to be released this week.
