Ziggy Marley and Burning Spear bring reggae tour to Paso Robles

    Tickets go on sale Friday

    – Ziggy Marley and Burning Spear will perform at Vina Robles Amphitheatre on Oct. 18 as part of their Do The Reggae Tour.

Tickets for the Paso Robles performance go on sale April 3 at 10 a.m. through Ticketmaster.

Ziggy Marley is a nine-time Grammy winner, Emmy winner, musician, producer, activist and humanitarian. After two decades as the driving creative force behind the Melody Makers, a band he formed with his siblings, he launched his solo career in 2002. Marley’s music blends reggae with funk, blues and rock while addressing themes of environmental awareness, self-empowerment, social justice and political issues.

Since 2017, Marley has served as the lead producer of the biopic “Bob Marley: One Love,” which was released Feb. 14 and broke Valentine’s Day box office records. The film has been recognized as a significant contributor to reviving the box office following industry strikes.

Marley has also been involved in political and philanthropic efforts. He served as a Goodwill Youth Ambassador for the United Nations and has worked with the Bob Marley Foundation. He later founded U.R.G.E. (Unlimited Resources Giving Enlightenment), a nonprofit organization that supports initiatives such as school construction, health clinics, and organizations including Food for the Poor, Health Care International and the Chepstowe Basic School in Jamaica.

Burning Spear, also known as Winston Rodney, is a reggae artist whose career spans over six decades. He has won two Grammy Awards for Best Reggae Album: “Calling Rastafari” in 2000 and “Jah Is Real” in 2009. He has been nominated for a total of 12 Grammy Awards and was awarded the Jamaican government’s Order of Distinction in 2007 for his contributions to music.

Burning Spear’s music promotes self-reliance and self-determination for the African diaspora. His influence can be heard in the work of many artists, and his message of love and unity continues to resonate with audiences worldwide.
