Zombie Invasion SLO raises thousands for Autism Spectrum Center
–The Central Coast Autism Spectrum Center held its 4th annual Zombie Invasion SLO 5K fun run for the whole family at Camp San Luis Obispo. 240 participants ran/walked through different terrains and obstacles courses, all while being chased around and avoiding their flags to be caught by zombies.
Participants were able to enjoy shaved ice, tacos, vendor booths, a bounce house, free entry to Gladiator Paintball Park, and a goodie bag with a t-shirt and small gift items. The event was a smashing success due to generous sponsors, donors, and a grant from the City of San Luis Obispo, as well as the great efforts of the California Philanthropy Group. Around 90 members offered so much of their time, resources, and talents to build the obstacles, procure sponsors and donors, advertise the event, and be zombies.
This year’s zombie Invasion SLO raised community awareness and over $9,000 for The Central Coast Autism Spectrum Center, which runs primarily on fundraising efforts and donation, in order to provide support, workshops, and social events for individuals and families touched by the autism spectrum.
