Council approves hotel swap

–At the most recent Paso Robles City Council meeting, the council unanimously approved a hotel swap so that Rupesh Patel of Zenique Hotels can build a 133-room Hyatt Place on 3.1 acres at the corner of Theater Drive and 46 West. The swap involves the River Lodge Motel, which Patel previously purchased, and city land where Patel will built the Hyatt Place.

Council members discussed valuations of the two properties, and agreed on a lot adjustment on the city property to offset the difference. They also discussed traffic issues at the nearby 46 West intersection with Theater Drive.

The city hopes to sell the River Lodge Motel to an operator to be re-purposed as a tourist attraction, perhaps including a wine tasting room.
