The Paso Robles City Council, at it’s Tuesday night meeting, approved a zoning change that will allow Little Caesar’s Pizza to open a new restaurant with a drive-through. The new location is at the southeast corner of Spring and 23rd streets where a vacant building sits opposite of Jack-In-The-Box.

Previously, at the March 17 Paso Robles City Council meeting, the council considered a request by Joey Blagg, on behalf of Lucky Luke’s Foods, Inc., to amend the Uptown Town Centre Specific Plan to expand the boundaries where a drive-through restaurant may be permitted in the Town Centre-2 (TC-2) zoning district.

At that time, the council decided to send the request back to the planning commission so that they could consider encompassing a wider area, and sent it back to the planning commission. Last night the planning commission re-submitted the zoning amendment as per request of the council, and brought it back to for approval.

Some slight concerns were expressed in the design of the drive-through, which will be situated on a small lot and be able to hold three cars at a time, but Councilman Fred Strong made the point that the food would be pre-cooked and ready to go, so customers will not have to wait in line while the food is being prepared for them, expediting the process.

Councilman Steve Gregory moved to begin the amendment process for the project and the council unanimously agreed. Gregory then moved to approve a conditional use permit and the council approved that motion unanimously as well.
