Sweet Parents is being filmed in Paso Robles as a stand-in for Brazil.

Paso Robles used as stand-in for Brazil in feature film’s final scenes

–The film crew for an indie film called “Sweet Parents” will be shooting its final scenes at various locations in and around Paso Robles this week. Casey Biggs (actor, director, and “Paso Wine Man”) convinced the producers and director to use Paso Robles as a stand-in for Brazil after the majority of the film was shot in NYC this past fall. The remaining scenes take place in Brazil, where Biggs’ character, a famous Brazilian architect, takes a young sculptress under his wing and proceeds to show her his very artistic life.

After a quick scout several weeks ago, director and writer David Bly agreed that Paso Robles would make an excellent “Brazil.” Biggs said the modern architecture, scenery, and art galleries felt like a perfect setting with just the right feeling that’s called for in the script. “And it’s nice that I don’t have to leave home!” he said. Filming will take place at Law Estates and The Dale Evers Studio – which will stand in for Biggs’ character’s home studio.

The story follows a young couple living in New York, he, a chef and she, a sculptress, through the ups and downs of their relationship. He finds a female mentor who supports his dream of owning his own restaurant, while she meets an architect who recognizes her talent and helps to advance her career.

The film “Sweet Parents” will be released in the fall.
