Letter: Touched by the generosity of ‘Roots on Railroad’ owners

Letter to the editor paso robles daily news

To the editor,

I was extremely stirred when I read the April 5 article on “Roots on Railroad.” Owners Chris Beckett and Katie Castillo are touching lives, and the community of Paso Robles, by their generous donations to families who have been hit by COVID-19, even when they have been hit as well.

Like many others, our jobs have been eliminated and the ability to earn income has been impacted due to the stay at home order. I decided to contact Chris and share the devastating effect to our family and share my concerns for how his business has been impacted as well. His selfless attention to his community and support of local families is overwhelmingly generous and kind. Chris and Katie continue to show up to their restaurant to make delicious food during these unprecedented times.

In the full circle of giving, I ask how Chris and Katie can be supported and urge our community to think of them, Roots on Railroad, when you’d like a delicious meal “to go” today and at the Backyard on 13th Street when the doors can re-open to the public.

Sincerely,
Kandi Quick
Paso Robles
