Volunteers needed for Eroica event

Eroica California

Hospice SLO County is looking for enthusiastic volunteers

–Hospice of San Luis Obispo County is looking for volunteers for the second annual Eroica California cycling event on April 8 – 10, 2016 in Paso Robles. Eroica California is a three-day festival and cycling event that includes food, vendor fairs, live entertainment, vintage bicycles and an ocean view ride for cyclists. A portion of the proceeds from the event will benefit Hospice of SLO County, a nonprofit volunteer hospice that provides free in-home respite care, assistance to those dealing with a life-limiting illness, and end of life, grief and bereavement counseling and support.

L’Eroica is an international vintage cycling event that was founded in Tuscany, Italy by Giancarlo Brocci in 1997. The event started as a way to admire past cycling and it’s heritage that inspired Italian history and culture.

As the first Eroica event in the United States, Eroica California 2015 was a success that brought cycling enthusiasts and bike collectors from all over the nation to Paso Robles. The event brought 700 cyclists to participate in their choice of a 38-mile route, 67-mile route, or 120-mile ride.

The Eroica California 2016 event will include an additional 85-mile ocean view route, a festival with vendors, live music, a swap and bike jumble, vintage bicycle fair, and special dinner events. For the second year, Eroica California will hold the Concours d’Elegance to showcase the best vintage road racing bicycles with four separate classes to enter in for judging.

Hospice SLO County is seeking volunteers to help with set up and tear down, packet pickup, rider and rest stop support, and dinner and VIP reception support.
