    Norma Moye Honored with Impromptu Birthday Bash by Main Street Association

    Paso Robles Downtown Main Street Association Executive Director Norma Moye died in December, surrounded by family. She was 92.

    From the loss of longtime community leaders to major infrastructure projects and national recognition, 2025 was a year of both challenge and change in Paso Robles.

    The year’s most-read stories reflected moments of loss, public safety concerns, wildfire threats, and continued investment in the city’s future.

    Loss of longtime community figures
    Paso Robles Downtown Main Street Association Executive Director Norma Moye died in December, surrounded by family. She was 92:

    Templeton Feed and Grain building fire and collapse
    In July, a portion of the historic Templeton Feed and Grain Building collapsed during a demolition after the structure sustained damage in a late-night commercial fire:

    Authorities later identified four juvenile males connected to the fire, according to law enforcement:

    High-profile arrests draw attention
    Several law enforcement stories generated high readership throughout the year. 

    In November, Paso Robles High School principal Megan Fletcher was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence after school district staff contacted police regarding a possible employee under the influence on campus. No injuries were reported. She was later placed on leave, and then resigned, according to reports:

    In December, Paso Robles Police arrested a 56-year-old man after a reported road rage incident in which a firearm was brandished:

    Police also arrested a Paso Robles man in December after an hours-long standoff at a multi-family residence on Vine Street. Authorities said the suspect broke windows, flooded the building and started a small fire before being taken into custody:

    Gifford Fire threatens region

    Community recognition and accolades
    Paso Robles Main Street was ranked eighth in the USA Today 10 Best Readers’ Choice Awards for Top 10 Main Streets in the United States. It was the only downtown in California to make the list, which was determined through public voting following nominations by an expert panel:

    Paso Robles was also named California’s best small town for retirement by World Atlas, citing affordability, safety, healthcare access, and cultural offerings:

    Infrastructure projects move forward
    Construction began on the Wellsona Road safety project, which includes an undercrossing and frontage road designed to reduce collisions. The $12.2 million project is expected to be completed in early 2026:
